Ministries
Jamaica YFC has several Ministries that you can become involved
with.
DJ Mission
This is the Evangelistic arm of the JYFC. Six missions are planned each year around Jamaica. This is a very organised team of individuals who meet regularly and work along with Ministers' Fraternities to make the evangelistic Thrust a success.
Counseling Centre
This centre is run in association with the colleges and universites around Kingston. Many children are helped each year as the centre provides for them mentorship, counselling, and guidance. Parenting seminars along with camps and city trips are a part of its regular activities.
Restorative Justice Programme
We work along with the Probation office and the courts to take young men and mentor them rather than have them go through the prison system.
Schools Ministry
This Ministry is two fold. We run a Character club in schools which assist the guidance counsellors through its work with children that are in need of behavioural modification. The ministry of education has sanctioned the manual which we produced in association with UNICEF. Secondly we do school devotions and school tours. These exercises will se us sharing the word with students and then giving them entertainment through the channels of a DJ or an artiste.
Choir
We have a youth choir which has about 25 young people. They sing at functions to represent Youth for Christ and at JYFC events. If you have other talents which include but are not limited to Miming, dancing, choral speaking, singing and sign language, please feel free to make them available to the ministry of JYFC.
Discipleship Ministry
We believe that everyone who comes to know Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour should be discipled. They should be taught the word of God and given an opportunity to know what they believe and why. Therefore we work along with churches to train their youth groups or evangelism departments in discipling the new converts that get saved in our collaborative efforts. JYFC is not a church and therefore surrenders all new converts to the churches.
Missions
JYFC has several missionary trips each year. We have trips that come into Jamaica and we ave several that are planned to depart from Jamaica. You can be a part of our missions in 2010 to the Bahamas, Haiti, and Serbia. We have had talk with Cuba and Cayman to assist them, but those discussions are still taking place. Serbia's trip will be a sports missions trip in the summer. We will need basketballers for a basketball tournament.
